I had the privilege of ‘finding’ Pete Tackett, and ‘bringing’ him to Middle Tennessee. When we were searching for a Pastor to Students at FBC Columbia, I discovered Brother Pete in East Tennessee, and began praying with him about joining our pastoral staff. It was one of the best ‘finds’ I ever made! He was a very effective Pastor to Students.
Through the years I was impressed by his visionary ideas and strategic plans to reach and disciple teenagers – and yet I was always blessed by his congenial and cooperative spirit in working with me and the other pastors on staff and the various laypeople as well.
After I retired from First Baptist, I was delighted that the church called Brother Pete to be Senior Pastor. He built respectfully on the foundation that had been laid, while at the same time stretching the church’s vision to reach more people locally and globally. He and Lori personally modeled grace-filled, prayer-powered living, and the church family quickly caught their examples.
Brother Pete’s years as senior pastor at FBC Columbia were some of the most spiritual, dynamic, effective years in the church’s history. New ministries, new buildings, new levels of mission giving (and going), and new ways of sharing the old Gospel story marked his pastoral leadership.
I recommend Brother Pete Tackett with enthusiasm and without reservation to any church or ministry seeking a true man of God. I see him and Lori and their children as Bible-centered, mission-minded, people-loving, prayer-focused, Spirit-led followers of Jesus Christ who will bless and inspire others wherever they serve.
